Hydrographers
Leading Your Survey.

Technical leadership, grounded in field experience.

WGS Global is a UK company led by two hydrographers with extensive offshore and nearshore experience. Our directors combine technical leadership with direct involvement in field operations, bringing together the specialists and survey systems each assignment requires.

We turn your brief into a workable survey approach: coverage, method, equipment, team and deliverables agreed around the site, programme and budget. We explain the reference systems, checks and limits so your team understands how the results can be used.

We support clients in West Africa and internationally through focused survey assignments, technical consulting and specialist field support.

A clear point of contact. You work directly with the technical lead coordinating your assignment, from preparation to handover. Responsibilities and quality checks are defined before mobilisation, with progress and technical decisions documented throughout the work.

Field experience

A network active
worldwide.

WGS is a network as much as a company. Our directors and freelance specialists have worked in more than 40 countries and territories, from the Canadian Arctic and Greenland to the Gulf, Taiwan and French Polynesia: offshore wind, oil and gas, subsea cables, ports and dredging, UXO and research. That field experience is what we bring to every scope.

Rooted in West Africa,
Open to the World.

WGS Global is registered in the UK, with a focus on West Africa and international survey support. Equipment is selected and sourced for each assignment, through rental or purchase as appropriate. Our team is based in Senegal, where the local company is being set up, and a base is opening in Conakry. We work with vessel partners in both countries, alongside the specialists each mission needs.

Senegal · Opening

Setting Up in Senegal

Our team lives and works in Senegal, close to our clients and partners along the coast, and mobilises from here across the region. The local company, WGS Sénégal, is being set up.

With our vessel partner in Dakar, Atlantico Services Offshore, we offer maritime support along the Senegalese coast: a survey launch and a crane workboat, mobilised for each job.

Conakry, Guinea · Opening

Establishing a Base in Conakry

WGS Guinée is opening in Conakry, to work closer to our clients in Guinea and the region and to mobilise faster.

Its other purpose is to pass on what we know. We want hydrographic know-how to grow in the region: local surveyors and data processors trained on real projects, alongside our team.

A Local Presence,
Built With a Partner.

Where a client needs regular survey work in a country, we can consider setting up a local survey company with a local partner, around a long-term work programme.

The company is built with the partner, to fit the market. It recruits and trains a local team, develops its equipment step by step and relies on the WGS network for technical support. The aim is local activity and local jobs, with capacity that grows over time.

What it means for you

01

One Contact, a Team on Site

A point of contact in the country and a survey team based there, close to your sites and quick to mobilise.

02

Site Knowledge and Continuity

The same people return to the same sites. They know the access, the conditions and the history of your data.

03

Regular Surveys, Data Followed Over Time

Repeat surveys on the same reference, so changes can be tracked from one campaign to the next.

04

Local Recruitment and Training

Surveyors and data processors recruited and trained in the country, on real projects. The skills stay local.

05

International Support for Complex Work

For more demanding missions, specialists and equipment from the WGS network join the local team.

Built Step by Step

A local company is only set up when three things come together.

  1. An identified needA client with regular survey work in the country.
  2. A local partnerWho shares the project and knows the market.
  3. A long-term programmeSeveral years of work, so the activity can last.
  1. First assignment, led with WGS
  2. Regular programme
  3. Local team, trained on the job
  4. Lasting local company
